Why do washing machines have glass doors.

Whats the point in the window.

Two reasons assuming a front loading washing machine.
Zimark found out that it was much easier to put a rubber seal around a glas door than a metal door.
There used to be twin tubs no glass doors and you can even get the automatic ones without glass doors rare but they are out there somewhere.
They just want their clothes clean.
The idea behind the window was.
Some people could care less if they can see inside the machine or not when its operating.
The first washing machines did not have a window.
I had a washer that didn t have a glass door and the wife moaned that she couldn t see if the washing was getting clean or feel if the water was getting warm and she said with a glass door youcan check that the machine is empty and when you open the door you don t get a flood.

Of course there are distinct advantages to a glass door apart from the satisfaction of seeing a machine do work.
Higher spin speeds can also cause items to hit the door with greater impact.
Glass lids scratch over time if hard materials are put on top of them including containers that contain chemicals.
This makes it so that clothes that hit it push the seal further into the glass rather than have the possibility with a flat window that the clothes peel the seal from the flat surface of the glass causing a water leak.

Also glass lids pose a break and shatter hazard if the user of the machine is clumsy or otherwise not careful with the machine.
First the concave glass window pushes inwards on the rubber water seal.
In addition he wanted to be able to check the operation of the machine.
Such lids automatically stop the machine to prevent personal injury by becoming tangled in moving parts.
Glass doors on washers became fashionable about the same time that safety lids were invented.
Washing machine doors have tended to get larger in recent years which not only means they re more prone to being hit but the larger surface area can make the glass more likely to break.
Changes to washing machines may also be a factor.
