Whirlpool Double Oven Door Locked

Some modern whirlpool ovens feature a child safety control lock that deactivates all oven controls and locks the door.

Remove power again and remove the back panel. I was self cleaning the upper oven of my whirlpool double wall oven when it completely shut down mid cycle. Heard there is a thermal fuse somewhere behind the oven but don t know how to access it remove oven from wall. Wait approximately 30 minutes for the oven to cool and try to unlock the door.

See if the oven light turns on and off. Replace the wire harness if needed. Wait a minute or two and then try to open it again. If the oven door switch is faulty then replace it.

It s usually on the top of the oven beneath the burner buttons but it can sometimes be along the right or left hand side. Allow the cleaning cycle to run for about 60 seconds and then cancel it. No display on panel and door is locked even after cool down. This may reset the control and allow you to unlock the door.

Open the door and locate the door jamb and locking mechanism. Connect any loose wire harnesses on the oven door lock assembly. There are several reasons why your whirlpool oven door is locked and won t open. Try the following to unlock the door.

If you still cannot unlock the door then you can check the oven temperature sensor from the back. The door will also lock during the self cleaning cycle and won t unlatch until the temperature inside the oven cools to about 200 degrees fahrenheit. If the oven door won t unlock shut off power and then check the wiring between the electronic control board and the oven door lock assembly. Try disabling the control lock or set and then cancel a self clean cycle to unlock the oven. If you suspect that the sensor is at fault you should first remove the power to the oven for a few moments and then reconnect. There generally is a small metal latch or hook located on the exterior of the oven that hooks into a small opening on the interior of the oven door.

Other resets include a reset when child lock control locked appears on the display. Reconnect power and see if door will unlatch.
