Wall Washer Lighting Distance

The distance between the wall and the first light unit is the same as the distance between the wall and the last recessed light unit and is half the space between the recessed light fixtures.

The wall wash lights should be mounted at a sufficient distance from the wall so that light falls on the wall at a wider angle. Position the trim on your target wall. Mounting and spacing distance should be 2 3 feet for ceilings up to nine feet high. Fixed trims should be placed closer to the wall.

You have to make the distance between lights equal to the distance between the wall and the lights. Mounting and spacing distance should be 3 4 feet for ceilings between nine and eleven feet high. That distance depends on your ceiling height equal to 0 33 of your ceiling height. The general rule for installing wall wash recessed fixtures are about 1 5 to 3 feet away from the wall.

The distinction between these two core lighting details is the fixture s distance from the wall surface. Divide the length of the row by the number of lights in that row you will get the space between the lights. In a wallwash detail the luminaire is typically a minimum of 12 inches away from the wall plane allowing for an even application of light that gives the wall texture a flat appearance. Wall wash fixtures should be spaced apart the same distance from each other.

Adjustable trims may be placed farther away from the wall.
