Wall Mounted Thermostat Dial Seems Loose

It was dialed up high to heat an empty house this winter for three days so a new rug being installend on a cold basement floor would warm up and bubbles in t.

Pull the wall thermostat housing off of its wall mount plate. When there is a signal for heat the dial seems to get stuck and hums until i gently mov. Thermostatscan be a little tricky but this is a pretty good plain answer what. I tried pushing just about as hard as i felt comfortable pushing but it still seems to sit crooked and feels very loose.

If everything looks ok then check the battery in your thermostat if it is a digital model. Change your wall thermostat batteries once a year or when the low battery indicator appears on the digital display. The other day i noticed that my 2nd gen nest thermostat is coming loose from the wall mount. Turn the thermostat off first and remove it from the wall base.

Basically it seems as though the two tabs at the top of the display aren t clicking into place. If it is a loose wire turn the ac unit off by switching the breaker. If you see dust being blown out this may have been your problem. The first thing you will want to do is to check the electrical panel to see if any breakers are off or tripped.

It should come off easily. Often when installing a thermostat people have no or little idea of what to do.
